RCIA: RITE OF
CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
RCIA is a year long process for those interested in learning about
Catholicism with a desire to become Catholic. It is our greatest joy as
well as our baptismal duty as a Catholic community to continually
welcome new members and instruct them in the ways of Catholic Christian
discipleship. All adults who are not baptized, or those baptized in
other Christian traditions or those never fully initiated in the
Catholic Church are invited to participate. The RCIA is a four-step
process that starts with a period of inquiry into the faith.
Participants are invited to broaden and deepen their relationship with
God through prayer, scripture study, reflection and sessions on our rich
Catholic faith and tradition. Parishioners are invited to walk this
journey as sponsors in the process. Together everyone has the
opportunity to grow in faith and more fully participate in parish
activities. The basilica celebrates the sacraments of initiation
(Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil for those who
are prepared and desire to become Catholic.
